VASPA Ghana unites licensed Virtual Asset Service Providers to build a safe, transparent, and innovative digital asset ecosystem — through self-regulation, compliance infrastructure, and collaboration with the Securities & Exchange Commission and the Bank of Ghana.
VASPA Ghana exists to promote a safe, transparent, and innovative virtual asset ecosystem in Ghana through industry self-regulation, compliance infrastructure, and active collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bank of Ghana. We believe a well-regulated digital asset market is essential for financial inclusion, economic growth, and Ghana's position as a leader in Africa's digital economy.
The Virtual Asset Service Providers Association (VASPA) Ghana is the industry body representing licensed digital asset businesses operating under Ghana's Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929) and the SEC Guidelines on Digital Assets.
We serve as the bridge between the private sector and regulators — advocating for proportionate regulation, developing industry standards, and providing shared compliance infrastructure to reduce cost and complexity for our members.
Our members include cryptocurrency exchanges, custodians, token issuers, DeFi platforms, and other virtual asset businesses either licensed by the SEC and BOG or actively pursuing licensure.
Four pillars guide everything we do — from setting standards to building public confidence.
Developing and enforcing codes of conduct, operational standards, and best practices for all licensed VASPs in Ghana.
Working closely with SEC Ghana, Bank of Ghana, and FIC to shape pragmatic regulation that protects consumers while fostering innovation.
Providing compliance toolkits, legal guidance, training programs, and shared infrastructure to reduce regulatory cost.
Building confidence in Ghana's digital asset ecosystem through transparency, consumer education, and proactive self-regulation.
VASPA Ghana is governed by a Board of Directors elected by full members, with regulatory oversight from SEC Ghana and the Bank of Ghana.
Elected annually by full members. Sets strategic direction, approves budgets, and oversees committee work.
Compliance, Standards, Technology, and Education committees drive day-to-day policy and infrastructure work.
SEC Ghana and the Bank of Ghana maintain supervisory oversight, receive quarterly reports, and approve major policy changes.
Whether you're a licensed VASP, an ecosystem partner, or applying for your license — there's a place for you.
